Detailed Horse Handling Curriculum Guide
- RSVP using the registration forms below.
- Failure to bring required materials as listed may result in immediate dismissal from the test.
- The horse you test with should be your project horse or on your 4-H Horse Registration. However, horses may be provided by your club or shared within the guidelines below:
* Horses may only be used for two (2) testing cycles per testing day.
SO - Prince the wonder horse can be used by Mary for Level 1 and Chris for Level 1 on testing day...and that is it for Prince on testing day.
OR - Prince the wonder horse can be used by Mary for Level 1 and Chris can use Prince for Level 3...and that is it for Prince on testing day.
* Horse Handling exhibitors will use one (1) horse for their entire test.
You MUST list your horse on your registration and confirm that horse at check-in.
You MAY NOT use Prince for non-mounted parts of the test and Babe for mounted portions of the test. - Testers may excuse an exhibitor at any point of the test for safety of horse or member.
Testers may excuse the exhibitor before the test is completed if the fault limit has been reached
- Safety is ALWAYS our #1 priority. Horse Handling is your opportunity to demonstrate your ability to safely groom, tack, care for, transport, and ride your project horse. You should be able to safely saddle, bridle, groom, and demonstrate how to safely complete the tasks on the test.
- If an adult must intervene in your test for safety reasons, you have not mastered the skills being tested and you will be dismissed from the test.
